CINEMATIC. SPONTANEOUS. STRIKING.

I’m Kent Oki, a video editor and content creator. I cut with strategy, style, and story. From brand campaigns to documentaries, music videos, and short-form social, this site is a showcase of selected projects that define my approach.

Translating a National Campaign for Social

Edited from footage captured for Abercrombie & Fitch's Holiday Campaign, this social cutdown was designed to preserve the brand's premium aesthetic while adapting the content for fast-moving digital platforms. Particular attention was paid to maintaining visibility of key apparel and styling details within a condensed runtime and limited aspect ratio, ensuring the product remained the focal point without sacrificing pacing or engagement.

Making Internet Service Feel

Like a Blockbuster Movie

With limited turnaround time that left no room for custom production or voice talent, Ting needed a theatrical advertisement that could hold its own in a movie theater environment. Rather than creating a traditional commercial, I developed a trailer-inspired concept and used stock footage, motion graphics, sound design, and AI-assisted assets to create a cinematic campaign piece that felt at home on the big screen.

Building a Fashion Concept From Scratch

Rather than waiting for an opportunity to work on fashion content, I created one. This self-produced spec project was planned, shot, and edited over a single weekend, with the goal of building a fashion-focused concept piece from the ground up. By handling every stage of production myself, I was able to explore creative direction, cinematography, and editing within a lifestyle advertising framework.

From Longform to Scroll-Stopping

I cut this from a long-form podcast into a short-form reel for David Heacock (CEO of Filterbuy), whose Instagram grew from 0 → 73K followers in under a year. I selected the strongest conversational hooks and layered in a mix of stock footage with lifestyle clips of David from an expansive internal library. Balancing those sources to add visual variety and illustrate abstract ideas requires the kind of judgment and nuance only an experienced editor can bring — not AI.

When Simple Tells the Strongest Story

The reference for Meraki’s Summer Games announcement was vague and impractical: an AI-generated image of a figure backlit by fire and water — but they didn’t want the fire or water. Early talks included renting a larger studio, finding a model, and bringing in extra gear. Instead, I asked for a few hours and set up a simple one-light shoot in the office, using my manager as a stand-in. The proof of concept landed so well with leadership that it became the final product — and no one realized the ‘model’ was actually my manager.

Small Crew, Big Story

Big Blue World was produced with a crew of only three people — one of them a trainee — and spanned several months and hundreds of hours of footage. What began as an ambitious local documentary about sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation nearly collapsed under the weight of limited resources and endless material. In the end, I carried it across the finish line at the 11th hour, shaping a narrative that highlights the rescue, rehab, and release process with emotional resonance and regional character.

Low Budget, High Energy

With the scope of a multi-day, high-budget production, this Ghostlings music video was produced on a shoestring and shot in a single day. I established the look and a rough narrative arc, shaping a final cut that balanced high-energy performance with the laid-back house-party atmosphere the band wanted — all while highlighting their individual personalities.

Crafting Confidence in the Edit

This testimonial, produced for H&A Marketing, came with a difficult challenge: the client was visibly uncomfortable on camera, with takes full of stumbles, pauses, and unfinished thoughts. Rather than cut around it, I leaned in — using an outtake as the opening hook to showcase his personality and make the piece feel more authentic. The result transformed challenging raw footage into a compelling, human ad that resonated with viewers.
